I’m a mom, wife, and caregiver to my husband who was diagnosed in December of 2018 with stage 2 Multiple Myeloma. We have been married for 15 years and our daughter is 13 soon to be 14. I also work full-time for one of the biggest hospital chains HCA. We have been through a tandem stem cell transplants in 2019 and I know a whole lot about transplants. That is my specialty. I love helping people. If you have any questions please reach out to me I will be more than happy to help you in any way I can.
Ann Bailey is a retired teacher who has been married to her husband John for 51 years. They are the parents of 5 adult married children and grandparents to 17 grandchildren. John is a 17-year multiple myeloma survivor. Ann has been his chief caregiver and cheerleader. She has been an eye witness to each of his 50+ bone marrow biopsies! With courage, determination, class, and humor he has given our family and those around him an unbelievable gift——his life and how he has dealt with the myeloma challenges.
I am Kathleen Weinrich. My husband, Karl Weinrich, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in March of 2012. In March of 2018, I received a Caregiver’s Award from the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. As we attended seminars from the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, International Myeloma Foundation, and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, I found that all of these organizations had sessions for Caregivers. They told you how to help the patients. Not one of them mentioned that caregivers need to take care of themselves in order to best help their patients. I included this in every evaluation at end of each seminar. It was also included in my acceptance speech for the award mentioned above. No one was paying attention until I discussed this with Jenny Ahlstrom, Founder of Myeloma Coach. This is why I am involved with this Caregivers Support Group.
