ASH 2021: Myeloma Crowd by HealthTree Has ASH Covered

The annual American Society of Hematology (ASH) meeting is the most important important meeting of the year for medical professionals working in myeloma.  Be sure to check our home page daily for the latest news and updates.

The Myeloma Crowd by HealthTree will report back to you in a variety of ways on the meeting that will be held from December 11-14, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia to help you make sense of the information that might help you make better decisions about your treatment with your physician.

Although the Covid pandemic is expected to keep attendance numbers—which are normally in the mid 30,000s—down, a full schedule of presentations and good numbers of professionals will still be part of the program.

For the third year, we will sponsor six Myeloma Coaches—Kenny Capps, Kyle Colvin, Vicki Jones, Jennifer Littke, Steve Reinhard, and Valarie Traynham—to report back to you on some topics of interest to them and you.  They are patients just like you.  Well.  Honestly.  Not really.

They have an inordinate interest in their disease and like to reach out to others with their experience and advice.  And just between us, they’re pretty smart and sometimes obsessed with sharing it, like all good teachers.  Be sure to check out their regular updates during and after ASH.

Additionally, Jenny Ahlstrom, fresh off of her CAR T clinical trial, will continue to provide her in-depth reports on difficult topics in a way that you can understand.  Rozalynn Hite, director of the Myeloma Coach program, will provide her perspective as a program director, caregiver to her husband, and mother.

Cindy Chmielewski and our video team will be putting together HealthTree University videos and interviews with doctors that will be posted throughout the meeting.  I tend to focus on the forest of issues and personal stories of the people behind the scenes who are making all the progress in myeloma possible.

Research director Nathan Sweeney will be presenting at the ASH poster session and provide reports on detailed science.

We will post short daily features on each of the Myeloma Coaches attending ASH starting on Saturday, December 11.
