Sugarless Fruit Dessert Recipe & Cooking Demo (Safe For The Neutropenic Patient)

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is good for everyone. But when one is neutropenic, one must be extra cautious with what foods are eaten. Typically, eating anything fresh isn't safe, however, if you cook the foods thoroughly, it's generally ok. Here is one such recipe that has no added sugar or artificial sweeteners, and you can add any of your favorite fruits, like berries (which are incredibly anti-cancer!), apples, peaches or bananas. Fresh Fruit Dessert Ingredients -3 cups of fresh fruit, sliced or cut (suggestions: raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, bananas, peaches) -1/4 cup butter -pinch of cinnamon (optional) -agave, honey or pure maple syrup to sweeten (optional) -whipping cream -walnuts (optional) Directions -In a saucepan, melt butter -Once it is melted, add entire fresh fruit. Cook thoroughly, up to five minutes over medium heat. Fruit will become very soft and mushy. Stir frequently. -Add cinnamon, agave, honey or pure maple syrup to taste (optional) -Remove from heat Serving suggestions: Add whipping cream or walnuts. Put over oatmeal, pancakes or waffles. Use as a topping over yogurt. Add to a pie crust for a delicious pie. Cool down and, add yogurt and milk for a smoothie.
