Donate Today to the Myeloma Crowd's #GivingTuesdayNow Campaign and Help Fund COVID-19 / Myeloma Research!
Today is #GivingTuesdayNow - a new global day of giving focused on supporting nonprofits who are increasingly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Myeloma Crowd, and millions of nonprofits worldwide, are banding together to fund crucial research and service-oriented projects across the globe.
We know these are unprecedented, challenging times for many myeloma cancer patients and have seen firsthand how it's impacted our cancer community. With you in mind, we have chosen to donate all #GivingTuesdayNow proceeds to the world's largest COVID-19 Multiple Myeloma Patient Study.
Help Make a Difference By Funding COVID-19 Research for Myeloma Cancer Patients
The study involves over 1,000 myeloma patients and is led by myeloma experts Dr. Rafael Fonseca, Dr. Faith Davies, Dr. Caitlin Costello, Dr. Ola Landgren, Dr. Mike Thompson and Dr. Ivan Borrello to better understand which myeloma patients are most at risk and how they are being affected by the virus. It will give us a chance to survey, analyze and contribute groundbreaking research to the entire myeloma community, but we need your help to make this study a reality!
Patients are invited to create a HealthTree profile and then answer the study questions. The anonymous answers will be aggregated and analyzed by myeloma researchers to identify recommendations that will help all myeloma patients know how best be protected and effectively treated for both COVID-19 and their myeloma.
Each study participant will receive a free rapid COVID-19 antibody test. This is a fingerprick blood test that identifies if you have developed coronavirus antibodies. It is required that this test be performed by a healthcare professional. This rapid test was used in a 3,200 patient Stanford University study and has been verified in a CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) approved lab. While these rapid tests are new and we have much to learn with greater use, our Myeloma Study Review Board believes the test will significantly help us understand myeloma patient experiences for both those who are both symptomatic and asymptomatic for COVID-19.
Ultimately we hope all patients can come out of this stronger, healthier and more knowledgeable in the process.
The Impact of Your Donation
Your donation makes a difference! Through your donations we can provide free antibody test kits to study participants, administer the study, and analyze/share the study results with patients. Donations at specific levels will be provided with a study "Stronger Together" T-shirt (mens and womens sizes available).
Donate today and help fund time-senstive research for myeloma cancer patients!
